By Nic Nack’s Excursions Lanzarote · Winter 2026/2027
Dreaming of escaping the cold this winter?
Lanzarote offers volcanic landscapes, beautiful beaches, charming coastal villages and plenty of outdoor adventures throughout November, December and January.
While much of Europe wraps up against freezing temperatures, visitors can often enjoy pleasant sunshine, coastal walks and unforgettable excursions. Whether you’re visiting for Christmas, celebrating New Year or planning a winter sunshine break, here’s our guide to Lanzarote in winter 2026/2027.
What Is the Weather Like in Lanzarote During Winter?
One of Lanzarote’s biggest attractions is its mild winter climate. Historical average daytime highs at Lanzarote Airport are around 24°C in November, 22°C in December and 21°C in January.
These are climate averages, not a forecast for winter 2026/2027. Evenings feel cooler, especially in the wind, so bring a light jacket.
Expect a mixture of sunshine, occasional cloud and some rain. The sea is cooler than in summer, although some visitors still enjoy swimming and water activities when conditions are suitable. Milder days can make exploring outdoors more comfortable than in the summer heat.
1. Explore Timanfaya National Park

No winter holiday to Lanzarote would be complete without discovering its extraordinary volcanic scenery. Timanfaya National Park is home to dramatic lava fields, volcanic craters and landscapes shaped by historic eruptions.
Cooler winter temperatures can make sightseeing more comfortable. Our Timanfaya excursions offer organised transport and knowledgeable guides, with the protected volcano route experienced by coach.
Explore our Timanfaya Full-Day South Tour.
2. Sail to Beautiful La Graciosa

Just off Lanzarote’s northern coast lies La Graciosa, a peaceful island known for sandy beaches, turquoise waters and a relaxed atmosphere. A catamaran excursion is a wonderful way to enjoy the scenery, with opportunities for swimming, relaxing and exploring the coastline.
Our La Graciosa Sail combines the ferry crossing, catamaran experience, refreshments and water activities such as kayaking, subject to conditions. Check the current excursion details for equipment and inclusions.

3. Experience a Lanzarote Buggy Adventure

Looking for something more adventurous? A buggy excursion lets you discover a different side of Lanzarote, with volcanic scenery, rugged terrain and spectacular viewpoints.
Nic Nack’s offers RZR Turbo adventures, two-seater buggies and four-seater options. Some tours include off-road sections; others follow scenic roads. Winter’s milder temperatures can make the drive particularly enjoyable.
Our tip: Check driver age, licence and passenger requirements, and wear closed footwear.

4. Enjoy a Papagayo Catamaran Cruise

The Papagayo coastline is famous for sheltered coves, golden beaches and clear blue waters. A catamaran excursion is a lovely way to appreciate this part of Lanzarote from the sea.
Relax on board, enjoy the coastal scenery and take part in water activities where conditions permit. Book ahead for your preferred date, particularly around the festive holidays.
5. Go Dolphin Watching

Seeing dolphins in their natural environment can be a magical holiday experience. Lanzarote offers dolphin-watching excursions from Puerto del Carmen, including sunset cruises.
Enjoy beautiful Atlantic views while keeping an eye out for marine wildlife. Dolphins are wild animals, so sightings can never be guaranteed. Winter sailings depend on weather and sea conditions.
Our tip: Bring an extra layer for the sea breeze.

6. Discover César Manrique’s Lanzarote

Lanzarote’s unique character owes much to artist and architect César Manrique. His influence appears throughout the island, from extraordinary architectural spaces to attractions celebrating its volcanic landscape.
Popular places include Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Río and the Cactus Garden. A guided island excursion makes it easy to discover several attractions without arranging your own transport; inclusions vary by itinerary.
Explore our Premium North Lanzarote tour, including Jameos del Agua and Mirador del Río.
7. Visit Lanzarote’s Traditional Markets

Lanzarote’s markets are a wonderful place to discover crafts, souvenirs and island atmosphere. The famous Teguise Market is particularly popular with visitors.
Stroll through the stalls, browse for gifts and enjoy the historic surroundings. Markets offer a different side of Lanzarote beyond its beaches and resorts.
Our tip: Check opening arrangements during Christmas and New Year, as holiday schedules may vary.
8. Enjoy Lanzarote’s Beaches in Winter

Winter doesn’t mean missing out on Lanzarote’s beautiful coastline. Popular beach areas include Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and the famous Papagayo beaches.
On warm, sunny days, relax on the sand, enjoy coastal walks or take a refreshing swim. Even when it is too cool for swimming, the coastline is beautiful to explore.
Our tip: Follow local beach flags, sea conditions and lifeguard advice.
9. Plan Family-Friendly Winter Activities

Lanzarote has plenty to offer families in winter. Animal attractions, sightseeing excursions, boat trips and outdoor adventures can provide memorable experiences for visitors of different ages.
Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park is one popular family option, alongside suitable boat trips and guided sightseeing tours. Check age restrictions and winter opening arrangements before planning your day; individual water attractions may have different schedules.

10. Celebrate Christmas and New Year in Lanzarote

Christmas in Lanzarote offers a different kind of festive holiday. Instead of cold winter mornings, you might enjoy a sunny beach walk, an outdoor lunch or an island adventure.
Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise often have festive activities and celebrations. Check local programmes for confirmed events during your stay.
Excursion operators may close on public holidays or run reduced schedules. Check Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Three Kings Day on 6 January, and book preferred excursions ahead.
Important: Always check the booking calendar for your chosen excursion. Holiday schedules, available places and sea conditions can change.
